This year, 2018, there have been many large-scale event cancellations in the local steampunk convention scene. The last time this happened, 2014, we set up a Facebook page and handful of smaller-scale, fun events, calling it the "Summer of Steam".
Therefore, I'm happy to announce to you all that we have revived it for this year with four official events, and one strongly recommended unofficial event.
Events will be free to attend and all-ages appropriate. Costumes will be optional, but recommended. Gadgets and props will not be a focus and may not be appropriate for most events.
Meet up with steampunks, steampunkers if you like, in New Hampshire's capital city.
The weather will be cooler and much less humid than the week or two leading up to it, due to some rain the day before. It's a casual meet-up setting, but feel free to dress, costume or not, as you see fit.
There are plenty of nice places to eat and get coffee, as well as an antique shop nearby. We will be exploring around town and posting updates on the Facebook page itsely.
This event is not officially hosted or co-hosted by the Summer of Steam Facebook page or Citizens of Antiford.
It is, however, supported by the Citizens of Antiford. When they first put the event together, the firm that helped the Cog Railway folks hired sought us out for advice in running a steampunk event. We have supported them, vended, and presented an introduction to steampunk every year so far.
We will be there for its third year running and welcome you all to check it out.
Do note that riding the cog railway itself is not free and should be reserved in advance.
