Titania

Backing

Commodities

The currency system in Titania is a commodity-based system, meaning it depends mainly on the export of raw materials.

This currency system has been in place since the founding of Hjem, when the Council of Elders instituted the system nationwide. However, trading is still commonplace among the nomadic tribes and some villages even have an amalgamation of the currency and barter systems.

Haaf

The currency system in Titania is a commodity-based system, meaning it depends mainly on the export of raw materials. The base unit is the Haaf, which is derived from the early word for weight, or heaviness. It could also have derived from the word haafyk, which translates literally to mean piece, referring to the manufacturing process of the coins.

Ged

One Ged is equal to one-eighth of a Haaf. The term Ged comes from the Titanian word gedan, the verb meaning “to agree”. This is because many times Ged coins are used in gambling and making small-scale deals.

Currently, the exchange rate with Antiford is 1 Haaf to on average 1 Ciam and 10 Simos.
