The Gearford Industrial Waste Center (GIWC) is a large facility where the industrial waste of the city is collected, sorted, and occasionally recycled. Industrial waste is an all-encompassing term used to describe material considered to be no longer of use after a manufacturing process has been completed. Such waste may includes:
  • dirt and gravel
  • masonry and concrete
  • scrap metal
  • oil
  • solvents
  • chemicals
  • scrap lumber

It can also handle the processing of large waste for the Antiford Government such as derelict or scrapped ships, remnants of damaged buildings, and other such tasks.

The main goal of the center is to organize and reuse Gearford industrial waste for profit (Examples include reselling scrap metal, breaking down scrap lumber for fuel sales, etc). Hazardous Waste or "trash" would not be processed at this facility as it would be unprofitable.

The large facility is mainly made up of a large scrap yard at the edge of the city surrounding a processing plant. The plant is outfitted with furnaces, a machine shop, a sawmill, and a laboratory. As the operation is profitable, it will expand and adapt with time as long as this sort of processing remains profitable.

It is illegal to raid the facility.
