Kantebury Empire Countries

The Rupee

A vast, multi-continental empire with it's central power coming from it's original Paorrian state.

The nation of Kantebury began as a smaller state that expanded by conquering the neighboring, peaceful territories. This larger state, nearly three times its original size, was comprised mostly of farmers, nomads, and livestock holders.

The expansion was halted by a coalition of concerned Paorrian nations led by Claurusia. Kantebury lacked the necessary military to oppose pressure from the international community to cease expansion.

The Empire, then, built up a militia, but to maintain a peaceful homeland, have used it to expand into colonies outside of Paorr.

The Empire was solidified as the Kantebury Empire, and four countries make up the Empire’s vast reach.

Greater Kantebury

Greater Kantebury is the largest section of the Empire. Located in Central Paorr south of Clarusia, on the bay that lets out into the Fimbrian ocean. It consists of what is the original country of Kantebury as well as many of the Nomadic Lands and more peaceful Nations of the Paorrian Center

The Empire’s Capital of Mumban resides here

Jhardhandi is the second Paorian Country under control of the Empire. South of the original Empire, it has stayed independent due to its sheer wealth.

On Araz, The Kantebury Empire has a small colony called Kwazulite.

South of Paorr is a large cluster of mostly uninhabited islands, the largest is Tyre. The Colony of Kantyre currently inhabits the west half.

Greater Kantebury's mineral resources, iron and quartz, were exhausted during the time of initial expansion. However, they do export a great amount of their agricultural products, including cattle, wheat and rice.

Jhardandi has a large spice operation, and also is involved in light textile trade. Their major contribution is from their jungle in which they have an advanced lumber and replanting operation.

Kwazulite has large tobacco and sugar cane farms. Sugar Cane is highest yielding export for the Empire, and as such, the farms and trade routes are heavily guarded.

Kantyre uses the rich soil of the island to grow tropical fruits, in particular, bananas which are praised highly by the wealthy of Paorr.

The Empire has a Democratic Monarchy. There are four royal families: two of which branch from Kantebury’s ancient royal family; One of which is from the royal family descending from the nomad nations of old; One is from the Jhardandi royal family.

Greater Kantebury and Jhardandi are ruled by the Emperor and the Royal families. Imperial rule is held by the Emperor. When the Emperor dies, a great election is held. The eligible royal families choose a successor, typically next in line, and a great book is written on all the candidates. Since there are no debates between the royal families, this book acts as the citizens' only guide on their candidates. A massive election is held over the course of a year, after which the elected individual will rule until death or impeachment.

Kwazulite's local ruler is appointed by the Emperor. Kantyre democratically elects their local leader, although they must also be approved by the Emperor.

The current reigning royal family is of the Jhardandi royal family.

The Empire is culturally diverse, blending traditions from the many, previously separate nations.

Large celebrations are an important part of Kantebury culture. They popularized the idea of a national holiday. Diplomatic events such as treaty signings are often celebrated with a festival.

Although militaristic policing and glorifying warfare can be found in Kantebury’s culture, there are many well known philosophers and diplomatic individuals. They are proud of the size of the Empire and the influence it wields, but are not interested in a Paorrian war.
